Globeville's streets average 63.0 on Denver DOTI's pavement condition index, across 279 scored street segments. Ranked over all 78 Denver neighbourhoods, only two average lower: Kennedy, at 41.7 on just 5 segments, and Cole, at 59.3. Globeville sits at 5,152 feet, on the South Platte valley floor. Of Denver's 78 neighbourhood centroids, queried against the USGS elevation service, it is the lowest. Southmoor Park is the highest at 5,633 feet, so the whole city spans 481 feet.

People ask whether that changes tire pressure. It does not, in any way you could measure with a normal gauge. Les Schwab puts the effect at about 0.5 psi for every 1,000 feet of elevation. 481 feet is therefore worth about a quarter of a psi (derived), which is inside the error of most gauges. Car ownership splits too. 15.9% of households keep no car, above the Denver share of 10.3%. 13.2% keep three or more, close to Denver's 13.4%. 38.3% keep one and 32.6% keep two.

And the cars here go to work. 55.3% of working residents drive alone, 8.2% carpool and 7.5% take transit. Only 19.3% work at home, against 27.3% across Denver. Those who commute average 24.2 minutes. So the easy slot for most Globeville cars is before work, after work or at the weekend, not a weekday lunchtime. Book it for when the car is back.

Where we work, and where we do not

At a house, we work on the drive, a paved pad or the kerb in front. At an apartment building, we work in a single-level bay with headroom or at a legal kerb space. We need level, paved, legal ground, with room at one corner of the car and the car clear of the traffic lane.

What it costs

A mobile puncture repair is $145 for the first tire and $50 for each additional tire in the same visit, with no separate call-out fee. Wheel off, tire demounted and inspected from the inside, a plug and patch to the industry method, remount, rebalance, TPMS reset where the car supports it, and the wheel back on. If the tire cannot be repaired safely, we tell you there and you are not charged for the repair.

When a tire has to be replaced, installation is $400 for one visit covering one to four tires, with mounting, balancing and disposal included and the tires priced on the same screen.
