Start with the tire

What do you need?

How many tires?

On the sidewall, or the sticker in the driver door jamb. Copy it exactly.

No account, no callback. The next screen asks about your car, then shows the price.

Before the technician leaves, compare the fitted tires with the order, ask about any warning lights, and get a written record of the work and follow-up instructions. Keep the invoice and warranty contacts together. If the car later develops a serious vibration, rapid pressure loss, or unsafe handling, stop in a safe place and seek assistance rather than continuing a test drive.

This is a customer handoff checklist. It does not replace the technician's installation inspection or authorize a customer to adjust wheel hardware.

Record the completed job

Check Ask the technician to record What you should keep
Tires installed Brand, model, size, quantity, and wheel positions Itemized invoice and sidewall photos
Work completed Mounting, balancing, valves, and agreed extras Completed work order
Inflation Specified pressures for the vehicle Handoff record
Wheel fasteners Confirmation of the required torque procedure Any manufacturer-required follow-up instructions
TPMS Work performed and any remaining alert Photo of unresolved warning and next step
Tires removed Returned to you or disposed of, as agreed Receipt or return count
Aftercare Contact, callback terms, and warranty route Written terms and contact details

Do not accept "all done" as the only record if the invoice differs from the original scope. Ask which difference is a correction, an authorized extra, or work that remains incomplete.

What pressure should the tires have?

Use the vehicle's specified pressure, not the maximum printed on the tire. NHTSA recommends checking pressure cold and says TPMS does not replace a gauge check. Review date: September 19, 2026.

Ask the technician how to check your vehicle and when to repeat the check. Do not bleed air from warm tires merely to force the reading down to the cold specification.

What if a warning light stays on?

Photograph it and ask for a specific explanation before departure. Record whether the provider completed a relearn, found a faulty sensor, or needs a separate diagnosis. A reset is not proof that a pressure problem was fixed.

NHTSA distinguishes an underinflation warning from a flashing-then-steady TPMS fault indication. Consult the vehicle manual and qualified service support. Do not ignore a warning because the tires are new.

A problem report that helps the installer

Record when the symptom started, the approximate speed if you already observed it, the dashboard warning, and whether it affects steering or ride. Do not drive again just to gather better evidence.

A useful message is: "After today's installation, I noticed [symptom] at [time]. The vehicle is now parked at [location]. Here is the invoice and warning-light photo. What is the safe next step, and who handles the inspection?"

Do not diagnose every vibration as alignment. See alignment after new tires for the difference between related services.

Complete the paperwork

Ask whether tire registration was completed and keep the confirmation. USTMA explains that registration enables direct safety-recall notification. NHTSA also provides a new-tire purchase record for information worth keeping.

Use the warranty checklist to distinguish product defects, installation problems, and optional road-hazard coverage. None of these checks implies a free HopTire callback or an approved warranty term.
