Where the car actually lives here

Very little of Five Points has a driveway at street level. Most of the new stock parks in a building garage, and that is the single thing worth telling us at booking.

A flat, single-level garage bay with clear space beside the car is fine to work in. A stacked platform, a tandem space with another resident's car behind yours, a bay with low overhead clearance, or a ramp we cannot get the van down, are not. For the older blocks, Ball Park (BP) is one of Denver's 22 residential permit areas and one of the largest, with 79 designated street segments around Coors Field. The rest of Five Points is unrestricted kerb.

The streets are better here than the reputation suggests

The average pavement condition index across 282 scored Five Points street segments is 77.6 in Denver DOTI's asset layer, with a range from 36 to 93. That is better than Capitol Hill at 72.0, Highland at 65.4 and Cherry Creek at 66.0, all of them richer-sounding addresses.

Denver publishes no pothole count by neighbourhood. The neighbourhood field in the 311 data is empty on every row and the yearly archives stop at 2023, so the smallest honest unit is the council district. District 9, which takes in Five Points, Union Station and Globeville, filed 2,457 street pothole requests over 2019 to 2023, third of the eleven districts.

Five Points sits at 5,205 feet, one of the six lowest of Denver's 78 neighbourhood centroids in the USGS elevation query. Southmoor Park, the highest, is 5,633.

That 481 foot spread is worth about a quarter of a psi on a gauge at the standard half psi per thousand feet, which is inside the error of most gauges. The repair price

$145 for a mobile puncture repair on the first tire, and that is the number, not an opening bid. It includes getting to you, the wheel off, the tire demounted and inspected from the inside, a plug and patch to the industry method, remount, rebalance, TPMS reset where the vehicle has one, and the wheel back on. Questions people ask

• My building garage has a tandem space. Tell us at booking. If the car behind yours cannot move, we will ask you to park at the kerb for the slot instead.
• Can you get into a parking structure? Often, if the bay is single level with clear room and the clearance takes a van. Height is the usual problem.
• One tire or two? Depends on the damage and on how worn the other one on that axle is. Repair or replace sets out the test.
• The car has been sitting since Friday and the tire is flat. Leave it flat and leave it parked: a flat where it stands.
