ZIP 37403 covers the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus and the Fort Wood historic district, and its households do not go without a car. They go with exactly one. 61.9% of households here keep one vehicle, the highest one-car share of the fourteen Chattanooga ZIP areas we profiled, against 38.1% across the city. Only 4.8% keep none, against 8.6% citywide.

That one car does not go far. The mean commute is 15.1 minutes (derived from the Census aggregate travel-time table), the shortest of the fourteen, and 19.8% of working residents walk or cycle to work, the highest share of the fourteen. In a one-car household, a flat is not an inconvenience. It is the whole morning. Nobody publishes a mobile price here

We looked. Tire Rack's directory for Chattanooga 37421 listed twelve installers on 2026-09-20 and none is a mobile installer. Its own lookup for mobile service returned an empty value for 37402, 37405, 37412 and 37421. Discount Tire's published list of mobile stores covers eight states, and Tennessee is not one of them. The one plainly local mobile tire business we found has an unclaimed listing, no website and no price. So there is no local mobile price for us to set ours against, and we will not make one up.

The directory's downtown listing is Firestone Complete Auto Care at 1271 Market St, 37402, quoted at $145.20 to fit four Michelin CrossClimate2 in 225/65R17 on a 2020 Toyota RAV4 AWD LE, tires bought through Tire Rack, tax excluded; that total includes a shop fee of 10% of install cost. The law, stated narrowly

We read every section of Chapter 9 of Tennessee Code Title 55, where the state puts vehicle equipment rules, and neither of its two tire sections sets a tread depth. We are not claiming no Tennessee law anywhere does; we are telling you what that chapter says. Across the state line, Georgia sets 2/32 of an inch in all major grooves. Tennessee and Georgia tire law sets the two side by side. Tennessee also taxes the labour on a car repair; the Department of Revenue's own guidance names "car repair" as taxable.
