The cleanest price comparison in this metro runs through ZIP 83705, because the storefront that anchors it is actually inside Boise. The Tire Choice #1688 at 1404 South Orchard Street quotes $118.74 for four customer-supplied tires fitted. The one mobile installer in Tire Rack's Boise directory quotes $201.00 for the same four tires. The mobile premium in Boise is $82.26 (derived: $201.00 minus $118.74, both read from tirerack.com on 2026-09-20, same configuration, same day).

Read those two numbers carefully, because there is a third

Roadz Mobile Tire — the only installer flagged mobile among the fifteen in Tire Rack's Boise directory — publishes two prices for what is physically the same visit, and they are both real.

Both figures are the charge for the work. Neither includes the tires.

Every line inside those totals is identical except one. Mounting and balancing is $100.00 for four either way. Disposal is $26.00 either way. The difference is the door fee: $75.00 on the customer-supplied route and $50.00 on the buy-from-us route, which is the whole $25.00 gap (derived: $201.00 minus $176.00, with the matching lines read from both screens on 2026-09-20).

So do not average them, and be careful which one a comparison is using. If you bought tires online and want somebody to come and fit them, the Boise number is $201.00. The $176.00 is a different transaction with tires included in a separate sub-total, and subtracting one from the other to make a point about anybody's pricing would be arithmetic between two different jobs.

Both totals also leave something out. Valve stems and TPMS sensors appear nowhere on that out-the-door screen at any quantity, although the same company sells stem work and sensor fitting as services. The only published stem price anywhere in this metro is $2.50 a tire on the Tire Rack card, and it is not inside the $201.00 either. An out-the-door total is out-the-door only if your stems and sensors go back on untouched.

One more thing about that rate card: Tire Rack files Roadz under Meridian 83642, not Boise, and its own copy says it serves the Treasure Valley. T&T Mobile Tires, the other dedicated mobile tire company in this valley with a working website, gives a Meridian address too. That is not a criticism, it is a geography check — a price that is real in Meridian is still a price you can get in Vista, but it is not "a Boise company's price" and we are not going to call it one.

What the Orchard Street card actually contains

Because the storefront benchmark is in this ZIP, here is what makes up its $118.74, read the same day: mounting and balancing at $26.99 a tire regardless of aspect ratio, giving $107.96 for four; rubber valve stems free; disposal free; TPMS rebuild kit free; then a shop fee of 9.99% of the installation cost, $10.78. Run-flat service is $5.00 a tire and metal valve stems $4.99 if you need them. Its hours are Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, closed Sunday.

Idaho's sales tax is 6% and in a tire job it lands on the tires, not on the work. On a live Boise price screen on 2026-09-20, tax came to $23.04 on a $384.00 tire sub-total — exactly 6.00% — and nothing at all was charged on the $176.00 of service. That is an observation from one seller's screen on one day, not a statement about every ordinance that could apply. There is no Idaho state waste-tire fee behind a disposal line either; where you see $6.50 a tire, that is a company's price, not the state's.

The one published mobile flat price in this metro is on Vista Avenue

66 Mobile Auto Repair operates out of 1116 South Vista Avenue, inside this ZIP, and its flat-tire page publishes a figure: "Mobile Flat Tire Assist Starts @ $185." The same page defines the scope as tire repair, installing your spare, or replacing a tire.

That is the only published mobile flat-tire figure we found anywhere in this valley, and it needs handling with care. It is a starts-at price, and it covers three different jobs bundled together, so it is not a plug-and-patch rate and it is not a like-for-like comparison with our $145. We are putting it here because it exists and because readers deserve to know what the local market publishes, not because it flatters us. The alternatives publish nothing to compare it with. Roadz lists flat tire repair among its services and puts no figure against it; T&T has a whole page on patches and plugs with no figure on it; Red White and Tread offers a bookable one-hour tire change with no price. All three read 2026-09-20.

Why the Bench is not a hill

The Central Bench is a raised terrace with a visible rim — two of the city's registered associations, Central Rim here and Glenwood Rim to the north-west, are named after it. It looks like terrain on a map. It is not terrain to somebody with a jack.

The measurement agrees. Only 0.6% of this ZIP's 16,810 address points, 97 of them, fall inside the City of Boise's Hillside designation, against 35.0% in 83712. A bench is an edge, not a slope field, and the flat top is where the houses are.

26,830 residents across 12,540 occupied housing units, 56.6% owner-occupied and 43.4% renter, and 69.2% of units built before 1980 — the highest pre-1980 share of the ten Boise-area ZIP codes in our research, ahead of the North End's 61.7%. The median unit falls in the 1970s build band. 59.6% are one-unit detached, which we use as a labelled proxy for off-street space because no driveway or garage count exists for any Boise neighbourhood.
