Start with the tire

What do you need?

How many tires?

No account needed.

65.4% of Edison Park residents drive alone to work and 7.0% carpool. Only 7.3% take transit, and 5.6% of households have no vehicle at all. Of the fourteen Chicago community areas we profiled, none drives alone more and none uses transit less.

18.6% of households here keep three cars or more, and the average household covers 13,597 vehicle miles a year against 9,081 citywide. This is the far northwest corner of the city, and on every transport measure it behaves like a suburb that happens to be inside the city limits.

We supply tires and fit them where the car is parked, in Edison Park and across Chicago. Price online in minutes, no call-out fee, no estimate visit.

Multi-car households and a real mileage load

11,558 people in 4,681 households is the smallest of the fourteen areas we looked at, but not a small tire market, because the cars actually run. 43.3% of households have two vehicles. At 13,597 miles a household, tread wears out the ordinary way here rather than ageing out.

Nobody checks it for you. Illinois has no periodic safety inspection for a privately owned passenger car, and the biennial emissions test looks at the emissions system rather than the tires. The wear bars in the grooves are the practical indicator, and the legal floor to drive on is 2/32 of an inch. Repair or replace covers what to do when one tire is worse than the others.

Houses, not high-rises

65.1% of Edison Park units are single-family detached, 16.0% sit in five to nine unit buildings, 7.1% in three and four unit buildings, and only 3.8% in buildings of twenty or more. 81.2% are owner-occupied. The median home dates from 1953.

What that does not tell you is whether your car has off-street space, and we will not pretend a detached-house share is the same thing. There is no Census variable for garages or driveways, and no Chicago dataset of private parking, so the honest answer for every neighbourhood in this city is that nobody has counted. We ask at booking instead.

The requirement is fixed: ground that is legal, level and paved, with room to work at one corner of the car. Edison Park is flat and mostly low density, so this is one of the easier parts of the city to serve. Say what the surface is and we will confirm it.

The roads here, in the city's numbers

Edison Park filed 3,063 street pothole complaints to 311 over the seven full years 2019 to 2025, and 586 under the separate Alley Pothole Complaint type. Ranked across all 77 community areas, the top of the street list is the Near West Side at 13,214 and the bottom is Oakland at 479, so Edison Park sits in the lower half.

Season matters more than rank. Citywide, street complaints peak in March and February through May carries 50.4% of the year, while alley complaints peak in April and stay high into summer. If you are going to bend a rim in Chicago, late winter is when.

Winter: no tire law, one parking law

Illinois bans studded tires for ordinary drivers year round under 625 ILCS 5/12-401. The narrow seasonal exception reaches rural mail carriers and some unincorporated-area disability-plate holders, neither of which applies inside Chicago. Chains are legal when conditions call for them.

The overnight parking ban is the calendar that does bite: 107 miles of arterial street, 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., 1 December to 1 April, enforced regardless of snow, plus 500 more miles once two inches lie. A tow starts at $150, with a $60 ticket and $25 a day of storage. The city publishes the map.

One more local cost for a three-car household: the City Sticker runs $105.18 a year for a Passenger vehicle and $167.07 for anything over 4,500 lb curb weight, from 1 January 2026.

What we do not do

We supply the tires we fit, so a set bought elsewhere is out. No alignment, no rotation alone, no balancing alone, no brakes, no emergency roadside.

Our price: $145

A mobile puncture repair on one tire is $145 with us. That is the price, not an estimate and not a starting figure. It covers the call-out, taking the wheel off, demounting and inspecting the tire from the inside, a plug and patch fitted the way the tire industry requires, remounting, rebalancing, a TPMS reset where the vehicle supports it, and refitting. If the damage turns out not to be repairable, we tell you on the spot and you are not charged for the repair.

The only national mobile service that publishes a repair price at all is GoMobile Tires, at $175 (read 2026-09-20).

Questions people ask

  • Three cars, three sets of tires. Can you do them together? Book it as one visit and say so, so the slot is long enough and the sizes are all on the van.
  • Can you work on the drive beside the house? Yes, where it is level, paved and has room around the car.
  • My tire went flat where it stands and I have not touched it. That is the better outcome. Leave it: a flat in the driveway explains why.
  • Do I need winter tires out here? Illinois requires nothing and bans studs outright. It is a judgement about how you drive, not a rule.
  • What does the visit add to the price? Nothing. It is inside the figure you see online: mobile tire replacement cost.
  • How do I find the right size? From the placard inside the driver's door frame: finding your tire size.
