ZIP 83706 is the only one of the ten Boise-area ZIP codes in our research where renters are the majority: 52.0% renter against 48.0% owner-occupied, across 14,799 occupied housing units and 35,524 residents. It is also the ZIP with the highest walk-and-cycle share of the ten, 10.6%, which is what a university does to the numbers around it.

Renting changes where the car sleeps

30.5% of the housing units in this ZIP sit in buildings of five or more (derived: 16.5% in buildings of 5 to 19 plus 14.0% in buildings of 20 or more, both from ACS table B25024). 52.8% are one-unit detached — the lowest detached share of the ten Boise-area ZIP codes in our research, just under the North End's 54.9%.

For a mobile fitter that is the whole difference between this ZIP and the ones further out. In Southwest Boise nearly nine homes in ten are a detached house and the usual answer is a driveway. Here a real share of customers park on the street or in a shared lot, and where the car sleeps decides whether we can work on it.

Here is what nobody can tell you, including us: how tight the kerbside actually is. The Lusk District, immediately beside Boise State, is the part of Boise where parking pressure is most likely to matter to a job like ours, and no parking-occupancy data for it was found anywhere. The census has no off-street-parking variable, the city publishes no occupancy study we could reach, and we are not going to estimate one. What we do instead is ask at booking, and if the street will not work we say so before you pay rather than after we arrive.

The registered associations divide this ZIP almost completely — 18,467 of 18,469 addresses: Southeast Boise 13,062, Morris Hill 1,363, Lusk District 1,301, South Boise Village 936, Central Rim 665, Depot Bench 636, Winstead Park 434 and Liberty Park 35.

Short commutes, flat ground, and 4.2% with no car at all

64.2% drive alone to work, 5.6% carpool, 0.6% take public transport and 18.5% work at home. Vehicles per household: 4.2% none, 35.7% one, 41.7% two and 18.4% three or more. The mean commute is 17.2 minutes (derived from ACS table B08013), tied with the North End and second only to 83712's 16.7 across the ten.

The ground is easy: 336 of the ZIP's 18,469 addresses, 1.8%, fall inside the City of Boise Hillside overlay. This is the river-flat half of the city.

A one-car household with a flat tire has a different problem from a three-car one. It is not a scheduling inconvenience, it is a stopped week. That is the case where coming to the car is worth more than the price difference, and it is why this page is set up for a same-day request rather than a booked slot.

Two of the fifteen are on Broadway, and the mobile one is shut at the weekend

Tire Rack's Boise installer directory listed fifteen shops on 2026-09-20 and two of them are in this ZIP: Firestone Complete Auto Care at 2178 Broadway Avenue, at $145.20 for the four-tire installation Tire Rack prices, and The Tire Choice #1687 at 2566 South Broadway Avenue, at $118.74 for the same job. Both are customer-supplied fittings, which is a job we no longer do, so read them as market context.

The part worth knowing is when the market is open. Exactly one of those fifteen installers is a mobile one, and it works Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed Saturday and Sunday — published on its own locations page and listed independently the same way by Tire Rack on the same day. The Boise storefronts run to 6 or 7 PM and most open on Saturday; a Firestone in the same directory opens on Sunday.

So in the one metro where a student or a shift worker most needs an evening or a weekend, the only van in the directory is off. We are not going to dress that up as a promise about our own hours on a page — ask us for the window you need and we will tell you what is real.

The summer here is a reliable working window, with one exception

An outdoor job in Boise loses very little to rain. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals at Boise Air Terminal give 11.73 inches of precipitation a year across 87.6 days, and July and August together bring 0.57 inches (derived: 0.33 plus 0.24). Heat is the trade-off: 47.5 days a year at or above 90 Fahrenheit and 5.9 at or above 100, all of the 100-degree days falling in June, July or August.

The thing that actually moves a summer appointment here is not weather in the ordinary sense. Idaho's Department of Environmental Quality carries wildfire smoke and air-quality advisories as standing features of its air pages and names fine particulate and ozone as the main pollutants of concern in the state. We have no smoke-day count for Boise, we did not pull an air-quality series, and we are not going to tell you how many days a year it costs. If a bad smoke day lands on your slot, we will move it.

What we do not do

We supply the tires we fit, so a set bought elsewhere is out; we withdrew customer-supplied fitting on 2026-09-20. No alignment, no rotation on its own, no balancing on its own, no brakes, no emergency roadside. We do not store tires. Mobile puncture repair is in scope, subject to inspecting the tire from the inside once it is off the rim. We need level, paved, legal ground with room to work at one corner of the car — which on a shared lot means a space we can use lawfully, not a space we are blocking.

A mobile puncture repair is $145 for the first tire and $50 for each additional tire in the same visit. Fixed, not a starting figure. It covers getting to you, the wheel off, the tire demounted and inspected from the inside, a plug and patch fitted the way the tire industry requires, remounting, rebalancing, a TPMS reset where the vehicle supports it, and the wheel back on. No separate call-out fee. If the damage is not repairable we say so on the spot: the inspection is charged and the repair is not.
