Mobile tire install or a shop visit: which fits your situation
Should you book mobile tire installation or drive to a tire shop? What actually differs: your time, the equipment used.
Your price online in minutes. No callback, no estimate visit.

Start with the tire
On the sidewall, or the sticker in the driver door jamb. Copy it exactly.
No account, no callback. The next screen asks about your car, then shows the price.
Both get the same job done: your old tires come off, new ones go on, and they get balanced. The real decision is about your time and your vehicle's situation, not the quality of the mounting itself.
What actually differs
A shop visit means driving the vehicle to the location, which only works if the vehicle is drivable and you have somewhere to be while you wait or a way to get dropped off. Mobile installation means a technician comes to the vehicle wherever it is parked, with a van carrying the mounting and balancing equipment; Tire Rack's mobile installation page says its technicians arrive in an equipped van and install each tire in about 15 minutes (read 2026-09-16). When a shop is the better fit
- Your vehicle needs other work at the same time (alignment, brakes) that requires shop equipment we do not carry to a driveway.
- You want to browse tires in person or compare a wide catalog before choosing.
- You do not have a legal, level, and safe place to park for the visit (see Prepare for a mobile tire visit).
When mobile installation is the better fit
- The vehicle is not safely drivable, or you would rather not drive on a tire near the end of its tread.
- You cannot spare the time to drop off and wait, or there is no shop near where the vehicle actually sits (home, office, apartment garage).
- You already know your tire size and choice and just need the labor done at your location.
What we do not do
We do not perform alignments, brake work, or other shop-bay services. If your visit uncovers a mechanical issue beyond the tires, we will tell you and you will need a shop for that part.
Questions people ask {#faq}
- Is mobile installation slower than a shop? Not necessarily for the mounting itself; the time you save is mostly the drive and wait you skip. See the duration note above.
- Can a shop do something mobile installation cannot? Yes: alignments, brake service, and anything needing a lift or shop-only equipment.
- Is one model cheaper than the other? We do not make that claim either way; your price depends on your vehicle, tires, and location, and is confirmed before you pay.
- Do mobile installers use the same equipment as a shop? The core mounting and balancing equipment is the same category of tool, carried in a van instead of bolted to a shop floor.
What we will not say
We will not say that we are better rated than anyone, or that a slot is available before we have confirmed it. Our own scope is replacement tires mounted and balanced at your address; everything else is described so you can choose it elsewhere.
Why book this way
- Your price online in minutes. No callback, no estimate visit, no waiting for someone to get back to you. Typically the quickest way to book this service.
- One all-in price before any contact. Of the national mobile tire services we read, only Tire Rack publishes an installation price; the others quote after you contact them or reach checkout (read 2026-09-16 and 2026-09-17).
- One point of contact from your request to the finished job. We work with a local partner and answer for the result.
- You pay only after the price and your booking are confirmed.
