Run-flat tire repair in Dallas

A run-flat hides the damage that decides whether it can be repaired, and in a 2.1 percent transit city it is often the only spare you have. We inspect off the wheel.

Start with the tire

What do you need?

How many tires?

No account needed.

A run-flat is built to be driven on with no air in it, which is useful exactly once and misleading afterwards. The reinforced sidewall that got you home is the part that takes the damage, and none of it shows from outside. The tire looks like a tire. The only honest answer comes from taking it off the wheel.

We do that where the car is parked in Dallas. The price is on screen in minutes, with no callback, no estimate visit and no separate call-out charge.

Why a run-flat needs the full inspection

The repair rules are the ones that apply to every tire, from the US Tire Manufacturers Association: tread area only, nothing wider than a quarter of an inch, the tire off the wheel so the inner liner can be inspected, and a plug and a patch fitted together. Run-flats add two things on top.

The reinforcement. A run-flat carries a stiffened sidewall designed to hold the car up for a limited distance at a limited speed with no air in it. Exceed either and the reinforcement is cooked while the tire still looks normal. So tell us how far you drove on it and how fast. In a metro where the next safe place to stop can be several exits away, that answer changes the outcome more than anything else you can give us.

The manufacturer. Whether a particular run-flat may be repaired at all is the tire maker's call, on top of the standard. We check both, and if the answer is no, we say so rather than patching it and hoping.

In Dallas the run-flat often is the spare

Cars delivered on run-flats frequently ship without a spare wheel, because the tire was meant to be the spare. That is a bigger deal here than in a city with an alternative.

The 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey five-year estimates put 2.1 percent of Dallas commuters on public transport and 66.6 percent driving alone, with a mean commute of 25.7 minutes. Dallas County records 1.4 percent on transit and Fort Worth 0.5 percent. And 43.2 percent of Dallas households have exactly one vehicle, more than the 32.7 percent with two.

So the fallback for a flat on a run-flat car is not "take the other car" and it is not the train. It is a tow, or somebody coming to the car. Flat tire with no spare and mobile replacement versus the roadside spare cover the trade.

Heat is why the age question is sharper on these

A run-flat carries more rubber in the sidewall and relies on that rubber holding its properties. NHTSA's March 2014 summary of its tire-ageing work is blunt about where that stops being true: "Tire aging is still a concern in the more southern parts of the Sun Belt states, during the summer months when heat build-up can cause a failure." Its footnote lists the states it means, and Texas is on it. From insurer data for 2002 to 2006, NHTSA reports that Texas, California, Louisiana, Florida and Arizona held 27 percent of the policyholders but generated 77 percent of the tire claims, and that "84 percent of these involved tires over six years old".

Dallas supplies the heat: the 1991 to 2020 normals at DFW are 14.6 days a year at or above 100F and 95.0 at or above 90F, and Dallas Love Field, closer to the centre, normals 17.0 and 97.2.

So when we have a run-flat off the rim we read the DOT date code as well as the damage, and tell you both. On a car with no spare, the age of the three tires you are not currently looking at is the more useful number.

What Dallas fitters publish about run-flats, and what we publish

Two of the three mobile installers in the Tire Rack Dallas directory list run-flat service explicitly, both at no extra charge: Via Mobile Tire and Supreme Mobile Tire each show "run-flat service" free on their rate card, read 2026-09-20.

TPMS is where the published lines differ, and a run-flat car depends on it, because a run-flat going down is the one you cannot feel. From the same directory on the same day: Via Mobile Tire shows the TPMS rebuild kit free; Supreme Mobile Tire shows it at $9.95 a tire and prints its own caveat, "Tire Rack quotes do not include TPMS relearn fees which vary by vehicle". Zohr's published Dallas menu lists TPMS Light Diagnosis at $0.00 and TPMS Transfer at $45.00 per sensor.

With us the TPMS reset or relearn is included wherever the vehicle supports it at the roadside, and a sensor replacement happens only where the part is in local stock and only after we have told you, before anything is charged.

One place we lose, and we would rather say it than have you find out at the kerb: we fit wheels up to 22 inches. The Tire Rack cards for the Dallas mobile installers show maximum wheel diameters above that, 26 inches for Via Mobile Tire and 28 inches for Zohr and Supreme. Run-flats turn up on large wheels. If yours is over 22 inches we are not your answer, and the directory above is a reasonable place to start.

The replacement decision, if it comes to that

We fit run-flats where the size is available locally. We will not replace run-flats with standard tires unless you confirm you understand the vehicle may then have no spare of any kind and no run-flat capability. That is a deliberate trade in a city with almost no transit fallback, not a default.

We do not sell used tires, and we do not fit tires bought elsewhere. EV and run-flat tires covers what the sizes do to availability, find your tire size covers reading the placard, mixing tire brands covers replacing one of four, what mobile tire replacement costs covers the money, and our Dallas service area covers where we come.

For the standard repair process see mobile tire repair in Dallas, for the published local numbers what tire repair costs in Dallas, and because a run-flat hides a slow loss better than any other tire, slow leak repair and tire pressure in a Texas summer are both worth reading before the season.

Our price: $145

A mobile puncture repair on one tire is $145. That is the price, not an estimate and not a starting figure. It covers getting to you, the wheel off, the tire demounted and inspected from the inside, a plug and patch fitted the way the tire industry requires, remounting, rebalancing, a TPMS reset where the vehicle supports it, and the wheel back on. If the damage turns out not to be repairable, we tell you on the spot and you are not charged for the repair.

Questions people ask

  • Can a run-flat be repaired at all? Sometimes. It has to pass the same US Tire Manufacturers Association test as any tire, and the tire's manufacturer has to permit repair. Both are settled with the tire off the wheel.
  • I drove twenty miles on it flat. Is it finished? Probably, but the inspection decides. Run-flats are rated for a limited distance at a limited speed, and past that the reinforced sidewall is damaged internally with nothing visible outside.
  • My car has no spare. What are my options in Dallas? A tow, or a technician who comes to the car. Public transport carries 2.1 percent of Dallas commuters and 1.4 percent in Dallas County, so the fallback most cities lean on is not really there.
  • Can I fit normal tires instead? We will, but only once you confirm you understand the car may then have no spare and no run-flat capability.
  • Do you charge extra for a run-flat? No. Two of the three mobile installers in the Tire Rack Dallas directory, Via Mobile Tire and Supreme Mobile Tire, also publish run-flat service at no charge, read 2026-09-20.
  • My wheels are 24 inches. Can you help? No. We fit up to 22 inches. The Tire Rack Dallas cards show higher maximums, 26 inches at Via Mobile Tire and 28 at Zohr and Supreme, read 2026-09-20.
