Start with the tire

What do you need?

How many tires?

No account needed.

You walk out at five thirty and one corner is sitting on the rim. The car is parked in the one place it will be stationary for eight hours, which is the best situation for a mobile fitter and the worst for a shop.

Book the visit for while you are at your desk. Your price is online in minutes, with no hidden fees, no callback, no estimate visit and no separate call-out fee.

Why this is the Chicago case

The city's commute is not the transit cliche. CMAP's Community Data Snapshot for Chicago, on 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey five-year estimates, puts 44.7 percent of commuters driving alone, against 17.7 percent on transit and 21.0 percent working from home. The mean commute is 33.1 minutes.

The spread inside the city is the part that matters for a workday visit. In the Loop, 19.2 percent of residents drive alone to work and 49.9 percent of households own no vehicle at all, so many of the cars sitting downtown on a Tuesday belong to people who drove in from somewhere else. At the other end of the fourteen community areas in our research, Edison Park sits at 65.4 percent driving alone and Beverly at 58.4 percent. Those are the households with a car in a lot all day.

Add the one-car arithmetic: 45.2 percent of Chicago's occupied housing units have exactly one vehicle, more than the 26.6 percent with none. A single-car household cannot surrender that car to a shop for a morning. Fixing the tire during working hours, where the car already stands, is the only version of this that does not cost a day.

What we need from a workplace lot

The technician is jacking a car up on someone else's property, so the checklist is slightly longer than at home.

  • Permission. Whoever runs the lot or the garage needs to know. Building management, the landlord, the parking operator. This is the step people forget, and it is the one that stops the job.
  • A legal, level, paved space with room to work around one corner of the car. No slopes, no gravel, no live traffic lane.
  • Access to the car. Keys, and the locking wheel nut key if the car has one. That small socket lives in the glovebox, the boot floor or with the jack, and without it nobody is taking the wheel off.
  • A note on where it is. Level, bay number, which entrance. A large lot eats fifteen minutes otherwise. If it is a structured or below-grade garage, say so when you book: access and headroom vary building to building, and that is better established before the van leaves.

Two Chicago things worth knowing

The winter overnight parking ban runs from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., 1 December to 1 April, on 107 miles of arterial streets, so it will not touch a working day. The separate two-inch ban is different: it covers another 500 miles of main streets and can be activated once there are at least two inches of snow down, at any hour and any date. If you street-park near the office in winter, that is the one that can catch you mid-afternoon.

And the city's towed vehicle data covers a rolling 90 days. Between 23 June and 20 September 2026, entirely outside any winter ban, 7,393 vehicles were towed to city pounds, around 82 a day. A disabled car left in a doubtful spot is exposed whatever the season.

What happens at the car

The wheel comes off, the tire comes off the rim, and the inner liner is inspected. Under the US Tire Manufacturers Association standard a repair only counts if the damage is in the tread area, no wider than a quarter of an inch, with the tire demounted and both a plug and a patch fitted. If the tire has been driven on while flat, the sidewall is usually finished, and no external look can tell you that.

Then we remount, rebalance that wheel, reset the TPMS where the vehicle supports it at the roadside, and set all four pressures to the door placard. What the tire pressure placard tells you explains why the placard and not the sidewall.

If the tire cannot be saved we tell you there, the inspection is charged and the repair is not, and you decide. Repair or replace a tire covers the call, what mobile tire replacement costs covers the alternative, and our Chicago service area covers where we go. If the car is at home instead, see flat tire in the driveway.

Our price: $145

A mobile puncture repair on one tire is $145 with us. That is the price, not an estimate and not a starting figure. It covers the call-out, taking the wheel off, demounting and inspecting the tire from the inside, a plug and patch fitted the way the tire industry requires, remounting, rebalancing, a TPMS reset where the vehicle supports it, and refitting. If the damage turns out not to be repairable, we tell you on the spot and you are not charged for the repair.

The only national mobile service that publishes a repair price at all is GoMobile Tires, at $175 (read 2026-09-20).

Questions people ask

  • Do I need to be with the car? No, as long as we can reach the wheel and know where it is. We do need the keys arranged and the locking wheel nut key available.
  • Does my employer have to agree? Yes. Somebody is lifting a car on their property. Clear it with whoever runs the lot before you book, because a refused entry is the most common reason a workplace visit fails.
  • Can you work in the parking garage? Sometimes. Tell us if it is structured or below grade when you book, and we will confirm before dispatch rather than turn up and find out.
  • I drove to work on it flat. Can it still be repaired? Often not. Running a deflated tire damages the sidewall internally, and that damage is invisible from outside. The inspection settles it.
  • Is there a call-out fee for coming to an office? No. The visit is inside the price shown online, home or workplace. If the space turns out not to be safe to work in, that visit is not charged.
  • Can you do it while I am in a meeting? That is the point of the window. You pick it, and the price and the window appear together before you commit to either.
