Run-flat tire repair in Denver
Run-flats hide the damage that decides whether they can be repaired, and Denver's daily pressure swing hides the warning. We inspect off the wheel.

Start with the tire
No account needed.
A run-flat is built to be driven on after it loses pressure. That is the whole point of it, and it is also the reason a run-flat is so often unrepairable by the time anyone looks at it. The feature that gets you home is the feature that destroys the evidence.
We come to where the car is parked, take the wheel off, get the tire off the rim and inspect the inner liner. On a run-flat that inspection is not a formality. It is the only thing that can answer the question.
Why a run-flat needs the inspection, not a look
A conventional tire tells you it has been run flat: the sidewall creases, the bead chews up, and the damage is obvious. A run-flat holds its shape on a reinforced sidewall, so it can be driven for miles at low or no pressure and still look normal at the kerb.
What finishes a run-flat is usually what happened inside it while it was being driven deflated, and none of that shows until the tire comes off the wheel.
So the repair standard applies exactly as it does to any other tire, and then some. The US Tire Manufacturers Association requires damage confined to the tread area, no wider than a quarter of an inch, the tire off the wheel for an internal inspection, and a plug and patch together. On a run-flat, that internal inspection is also deciding whether the casing was cooked before you called.
Denver hides the warning
The only thing that tells you a run-flat has lost pressure is the TPMS, because the tire does not look flat. And Denver trains drivers to ignore that light.
From the NOAA 1991-2020 normals at Denver Central Park, the gap between the normal daily high and the normal daily low averages 27.8 F across the year, from 26.5 F in February to 29.7 F in September. USTMA puts pressure movement at 1 to 2 psi per 10 F, depending on how hard the tire is inflated. At the passenger-car end of that range, Denver's daily swing is close to 2.8 psi in every tire on the car between dawn and mid-afternoon, on an ordinary day, in any month.
A light that comes on cold and goes off warm, over and over, stops meaning anything. On a car with conventional tires that habit costs you fuel and tread. On a run-flat it costs you the tire, because the light was the only warning you were going to get.
Check the pressures cold, before the car has moved, against the door placard. NHTSA defines correct pressure as the manufacturer's recommended cold inflation figure from that label, measured after the car has stood at least three hours. Treat one tire reading low against its neighbours as a leak, not as weather.
The spare you probably do not have
Cars sold on run-flats usually carry no spare at all, and often no jack. That is the trade: the tire is the spare.
It matters more here than in a transit city. Across all 178 Denver County tracts in the 2020-2024 American Community Survey five-year estimates, 3.8% of Denver workers commute by public transport and 43.4% of households keep exactly one vehicle. There is no second car and there is no bus. A run-flat that has been driven down and then written off leaves a Denver household with nothing.
What happens at the visit, and what we will not do
We inspect, and then we tell you one of two things.
If the puncture is in the tread area, inside the quarter-inch limit, and the casing is intact inside, it is a repair: plug and patch together, remount, rebalance, TPMS reset where the vehicle supports it, pressure set to the placard.
If the inside shows the tire was run down, it is a replacement, and we say so with the reason. You pay for the inspection and not for a repair that did not happen. Colorado's unsafe-tire list in C.R.S. 42-4-228(5)(c) is worth knowing here: it covers a tread depth below two thirty-seconds of an inch, any bump, bulge or knot affecting the tire structure, and a break which exposes a tire body cord.
Two limits of ours. We fit run-flats where the size is available locally. And we will not put standard tires on a car that came on run-flats unless you tell us you understand the car may then have no spare and no way of getting itself anywhere on a deflated tire.
If you are replacing, one Colorado point is worth a minute of your time. The Traction Law standard in C.R.S. 42-4-106 is three sixteenths of an inch of tread, which is six thirty-seconds, three times the general unsafe threshold, and it runs on I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison from 1 September to 31 May. All-season, all-weather and winter tires covers what the markings mean.
Tire losing air with no nail in it covers the other causes, the tire pressure placard covers the number, repair or replace a tire covers the decision, and our Denver service area covers where we come.
Our price: $145
A mobile puncture repair on one tire is $145. That is a price, not a range and not a starting point. It buys the trip out, the wheel off, the tire off the rim, an inspection of the inner liner, a plug and patch fitted to the tire industry standard, remounting, rebalancing, a TPMS reset where supported, and the pressure set to the placard. Nothing is added afterwards for the call-out.
Questions people ask
- Can a run-flat be repaired at all? Sometimes, and only after the tire comes off the wheel. The limits are the same as any tire, tread area and a quarter of an inch, with the extra question of whether the casing was damaged by being driven on deflated.
- I drove ten miles on it. Is it finished? Quite possibly. Distance, speed and load all matter, and none of them can be judged from outside. The inspection answers it.
- Why does my TPMS light come and go? Denver's normal daily temperature range averages 27.8 F. USTMA puts pressure movement at 1 to 2 psi per 10 F; at the passenger-car end of that range it is close to 2.8 psi of swing every day. That is enough to trip and clear a warning without anything being wrong.
- Can I just fit ordinary tires instead? We will do it if you confirm you understand the consequence, which is usually a car with no spare, no jack and no run-flat capability left.
- Do you carry run-flats? Where the size is available locally, yes. Tell us the size when you book and we will confirm before the visit rather than at the kerb.
