South Park Hill has the shortest commute of the eighteen Denver neighbourhoods we profiled: a mean of 20.3 minutes for residents who travel to work. 54.2% drive alone, 35.9% work at home and 2.7% take transit.

It is also one of the most settled. 88.3% of its 3,671 occupied units are owner occupied, so the renter share of 11.7% is the third lowest of all 78 Denver neighbourhoods, behind Wellshire at 7.9% and Country Club at 13.4%. 85.6% of units are single family detached. 2.2% of households have no car, 45.5% have two and 22.7% have three or more.

We supply the tires and fit them where the car is standing, in South Park Hill and across Denver. Price before you book, no separate call-out fee.

Short trips are harder on tires than they look

A 20 minute commute does not put many miles on a car in a year, and the temptation is to assume the tires are fine because the odometer says so. They age anyway, with time and exposure rather than mileage, and pressure drifts on its own.

Denver makes that worse than most places. The normal daily temperature range here is about 27.8 Fahrenheit across the year, derived from NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals at Denver Central Park. USTMA puts pressure movement at one to two psi for every ten degrees, depending on how hard the tire is inflated. At the passenger-car end of that range it is close to 2.8 psi of movement in cold pressure between dawn and mid afternoon, every day of the year. It is why the TPMS light comes on cold and clears by lunchtime, and why a soft tire hides in that noise.

The fix is to check it cold against the door placard figure, at the same time of day. The tire pressure placard says where to find the number.

Nobody else is going to check

Colorado runs no periodic safety inspection for a private passenger car. C.R.S. 42-4-203 gives an officer a discretionary spot inspection on reasonable cause, and the emissions test at registration says nothing about tires.

The floor is 2/32 of an inch, measured in any two tread grooves at three points around the tire, below which C.R.S. 42-4-228 deems the tire unsafe and driving on it unlawful. The wear bars tell you the same thing free.

Working at the house

No permit area covers South Park Hill. Denver's 22 permit areas cover 971 street segments and none is here, so the kerb is unrestricted and the alley grid puts a garage or a pad behind most houses.

We need one of those places to be usable: level, paved, legal, clear room at one corner. Tell us which at booking. The common blocker is a narrow 1920s garage with the car already inside, and the fix is the apron.

The pavement, ranked honestly

South Park Hill averages 70.1 on Denver DOTI's pavement condition index across 380 scored street segments, from 43 to 89. North Park Hill, on a near identical grid immediately north, averages 75.9. The two look the same from a car and do not score the same.

There is no pothole count for either, and there cannot be: the neighbourhood field in Denver's 311 data is null on every row and the archives stop at 2023. Council district 8, which contains both Park Hills and Central Park, filed 2,699 street pothole requests over 2019 to 2023, second of eleven.

Altitude, briefly, because it comes up

South Park Hill sits at 5,334 feet. Across all 78 Denver neighbourhood centroids the spread is 481 feet, from Globeville at 5,152 to Southmoor Park at 5,633. At half a psi per thousand feet that spread is worth about a quarter of a psi, inside gauge error. Your street is not a different tire pressure from anyone else's.

What we do not do

We fit the tires we supply, so a set bought elsewhere is out. No alignment, no rotation alone, no balancing alone, no brakes, no emergency roadside. Gravel and grass are not surfaces we will jack a car on.

What a repair costs here

$145 for a mobile puncture repair on the first tire, firm, with no call-out on top. Wheel off, tire demounted and inspected from the inside, a plug and patch to the industry method, remount, rebalance, TPMS reset where the car supports one, refit. If it is not repairable we charge nothing.

Questions people ask

  • The car only does short trips. Do I still need new tires? Possibly, on age and condition rather than miles.
  • My TPMS light comes on cold and clears later. Normal in a 27 degree daily swing, but have the cold pressure checked against the placard.
  • Can you work in the alley? Yes, where the surface is sound and the alley stays passable.
  • Two cars, one visit? Yes, booked as two cars at one address.
  • Is one tire enough or do I need the pair? Repair or replace covers the test we use.
  • Do you keep winter tires between seasons? No. The set stays with you and we swap it over at the address: the seasonal swap.
