All-season, all-weather, or winter tires?

All-season tires suit many mild-weather uses. All-weather tires are a year-round option with stronger winter capability in suitable models. Dedicated winter tires are the category to assess for sustained snow, ice, and cold-weather driving. Choose for the hardest conditions you regularly face, not just the weather at your home address.

What does the mountain-snowflake symbol prove?

Michelin describes the three-peak mountain snowflake, or 3PMSF, as evidence of the severe-snow traction standard. M+S alone is not equivalent. Do not read 3PMSF as a guarantee of ice braking, performance on every road, or permission to ignore traction rules. Check the exact product and size rather than assuming the same marketing family always has identical specifications.

The five questions that make a recommendation useful

1. Which roads do you use in the worst season?
2. Must you drive when conditions deteriorate, or can you postpone trips?
3. What vehicle and tire specifications must the recommendation satisfy?
4. Can you store a second set?
5. Is a seasonal appointment practical before conditions change?

Write the answers before comparing product reviews. “Mostly city driving” leaves out the two winter trips that may change the decision.

Compare the full annual setup

For a two-set plan, list tires, any second wheels, compatible sensors if required, installation, changeovers, storage, and disposal when needed. For a one-set plan, list the tire purchase and maintenance you will actually use. Use your written quotes, not a claim that one setup always costs less.

What should go in a mobile request?

State the selected category and exact tire model, vehicle, size, quantity, whether the tires are already delivered, and whether they are loose or mounted. A category name is not enough to order a tire.
