ZIP 31411 is the most extreme housing profile in this metro, and it is extreme in a direction that makes our job easy and your tires harder to keep track of.

Of the fourteen Savannah-area ZIP Code Tabulation Areas we pulled, it has the highest owner-occupancy at 92.3%, the highest one-unit-detached share at 94.8%, the highest two-vehicle share at 57.3%, the highest work-at-home share at 26.1%, and the lowest carpool share at 2.7%. Its no-vehicle share of 1.2% is the second lowest of the set, behind Tybee Island at 1.1%. It records a public-transport share of 0.0%. And it is the only one of the fourteen where 0.0% of the housing predates 1940 — the median unit falls in the 1980s band.

9,390 people live here in 4,418 occupied units, in unincorporated Chatham County rather than the City of Savannah. We supply the tires and fit them where the car is parked, here and across Savannah.

The ground problem does not exist here. The other one does.

Almost everywhere else in Savannah the first question is where the van can legally and physically stand. Tire Rack's published requirement — "a flat, paved surface with 6 feet of clearance around your vehicle" with "A minimum of 10 feet of vertical clearance" — is the test every mobile fitter works to, and in the Historic District, where only 29.2% of units are detached houses, it is the whole negotiation.

At 94.8% detached it is usually answered before anyone asks. One caution on that figure: it is a count of free-standing houses, not a count of driveways. The American Community Survey has no garage or off-street-parking variable and nobody local publishes one, so the detached share is a proxy, we are using it as a proxy, and we will not turn it into a driveway percentage here or anywhere else.

What we do ask for on this island is the practical detail in advance: which car, where it stands, whether anything is parked behind it, and how you want us to reach the address. Confirm that at booking and the visit runs to time.

57.3% of households here keep exactly two cars. One of them is the problem.

26.1% of working residents do not commute at all, the highest share of the fourteen. Those who do commute average 27.2 minutes. Put that beside a 57.3% two-car share and you get the defining pattern of this ZIP: a household with more car than it uses.

Low mileage does not mean low risk, it means a different risk. Tread wear is what mileage causes. What time and standing cause instead are a slow leak nobody notices until the morning the car has to go somewhere, a valve stem that has been weeping for a year, a flat spot from sitting, and a set with plenty of depth and a date code from another decade.

Savannah's climate pushes on the second kind rather than the first. The 1991–2020 normals at Savannah/Hilton Head International give 261.4 days a year at or above 70F and 177.6 at or above 80F, against only 70.0 at or above 90F and 1.8 at or above 100F. This is not a heat-spike city, it is a long-warm city, and a parked car gets all of it. When to replace tires covers age as a criterion in its own right.

Nothing in Georgia will ever look at the car that sits

Georgia sets a real, measurable standard. O.C.G.A. 40-8-74(e) requires "not less than 2/32 inch tread measurable in all major grooves", and in two further limbs requires tires to be free from "cuts, breaks, or snags on tread and sidewall deep enough to expose body cord" and free from "bumps, bulges, or separations". Those last two have nothing to do with how far you have driven.

And nothing in the state puts a passenger car in front of an inspector on a schedule. Chapter 8 of Title 40 runs to five articles and none of them creates a periodic passenger-car safety inspection. Georgia's Clean Air Force emissions programme covers thirteen named counties and every one of them is metro Atlanta; Chatham is not on the list.

So on a street where a quarter of working residents never leave for work and most households have a spare car in the drive, there is no date in the year on which anybody else looks at these tires. That is the whole argument for a scheduled check: prepare for mobile tire service and the tire pressure placard.

What we do not do

We supply the tires we fit. A set bought elsewhere is out as of 2026-09-20. No alignment, no rotation alone, no balancing alone, no brakes, no emergency roadside. If the address has access conditions we need to meet, we would rather know at booking than at the gate.

Our price: $145

A mobile puncture repair is $145 for the first tire and $50 for each additional tire in the same visit, with no separate call-out fee. Wheel off, tire demounted and inspected from the inside, plug and patch fitted to the industry method, remount, rebalance, TPMS reset where the car supports it, refit. Repair is subject to inspection on site; if the damage is not repairable you are not charged for the repair.
