Mobile tire service in Godley Station, Port Wentworth and the airport north side

ZIP 31407 has the newest housing and the heaviest driving of the fourteen Savannah-area ZIP Code Tabulation Areas we pulled. It is the only one of those fourteen whose median housing unit falls in the 2010s build band — everywhere else in the set the median is older, and in the Historic District it is 1939 or earlier. 2.5% of the housing here predates 1940.

It also leads the fourteen on driving. 82.5% of working residents drive alone, the highest of the set. 0.5% walk or cycle, the joint lowest with Wilmington Island. The ACS records a public-transport share of 0.0%. The mean commute is 26.4 minutes, and only 3.6% of households keep no vehicle while 22.8% keep three or more.

Say the jurisdiction out loud: this is not the City of Savannah. The SAGIS ZIP layer gives the post-office name for 31407 as PORT WENTWORTH, and the ZIP covers Port Wentworth and unincorporated Chatham County. It is inside Chatham, so the 7% county sales tax is the same one Savannah pays, but a rule or a price that belongs to the City of Savannah does not automatically belong here.

New housing, and a car park problem hiding inside it

24,893 people live here in 10,081 occupied units, 48.5% owner-occupied and 51.5% rented — a renter majority in a ZIP full of new construction, which is not the combination most people picture.

The structure mix explains it. 55.6% of units are one-unit detached and 5.1% attached, but 22.0% sit in buildings of five to nineteen units, the highest share of the fourteen ZIPs, and another 13.9% in buildings of twenty or more. That is a lot of garden-apartment and new-build rental stock next to a lot of new subdivisions.

For a fitter those are two different jobs. A 2010s driveway is about as easy as this work gets: level, paved, private, and usually room to spare. A shared apartment lot is easy too, as long as the space is a real space — Tire Rack's published requirements, which match ours, are "a flat, paved surface with 6 feet of clearance around your vehicle", "A minimum of 10 feet of vertical clearance", and the service "can meet you at your residence or a local parking lot" but "cannot install in open traffic".

What we cannot tell you is how many homes here have off-street parking. The American Community Survey has no garage or driveway variable and nobody local publishes one. The 55.6% detached share is the only proxy that exists, we are using it as a proxy, and it is not a driveway count.

The metro's one priced mobile operator is based in this corner

GoMobile Tires is the only mobile installer among the seventeen recommended installers Tire Rack lists for ZIP 31401, and the only operator in this metro with a fully itemised published rate card. Its franchise's own page is headed "Mobile Tire Service in Port Wentworth, GA"; Tire Rack gives its address as 20 Mincey Blvd, Garden City. Both are Chatham County municipalities outside the City of Savannah, and the two sources disagree on which one — we are reporting that rather than picking.

The rate card, published by Tire Rack and read on 2026-09-20: Mobile Service Fee (per visit) $100.00; mounting and balancing $30.00 a tire, flat across all four sidewall bands; rubber valve stems free; disposal $8.00 a tire; TPMS rebuild kit $10.00; run-flat service $5.00; road-force balancing $25.00 as an option. No percentage shop fee. Hours Monday to Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.

Two of those lines are worth naming. The $8.00 disposal fee is the highest of the seventeen installers in that directory, where the same line runs from free at Pep Boys up the scale. And the $100.00 per-visit fee is the highest mobile call-out charge in any published rate card our city research has recorded — higher than the $69, $75 and $50 per-visit fees we read in Dallas.

Separately, on its own site, the same franchise publishes "Install from $150" against new tire installation. That is a from-price of unstated scope and it cannot be added to the Tire Rack lines above to build a total; the two are different published things and we are not going to merge them. For flat repair its site publishes no price at all: "A flat doesn't mean a tow. We assess on-location — plug, patch, or replace."

The only dated deadline a Georgia driver ever gets

There is no annual inspection in this state to fail. What exists instead is O.C.G.A. 40-8-200(c): if an officer inspects a vehicle and finds it "in unsafe condition or any required part or equipment is not present or is not in proper repair and adjustment", the officer "shall give a written notice to the driver" and "shall require that a certificate of inspection and approval be obtained within 30 days".

That is the whole calendar. A 26.4-minute commute, mostly alone, on a car nothing checks on a schedule, until one day a notice starts a 30-day clock. We supply the tires we fit. A set bought elsewhere is out as of 2026-09-20. No alignment, no rotation alone, no balancing alone, no brakes, no emergency roadside. If your building's lot has no space that meets the clearance test, we will tell you before you pay.

Our price: $145

A mobile puncture repair is $145 for the first tire and $50 for each additional tire in the same visit, and there is no separate call-out fee — the $100.00 per-visit line above is not a line we have. Wheel off, tire demounted and inspected from the inside, plug and patch to the industry method, remount, rebalance, TPMS reset where the car supports it, refit. Repair is subject to inspection on site; if it is not repairable you are not charged for the repair.
