Mobile tire service in Cloverdale, Woodville and West Savannah

23.2% of households in ZIP 31415 keep no vehicle at all. That is the highest carless share of the fourteen Savannah-area ZIP Code Tabulation Areas we pulled, against 10.5% for the City of Savannah and 7.6% for Chatham County on the same Census release. Another 35.3% keep exactly one.

The commute numbers follow from that and are just as lopsided. 16.3% of working residents carpool and 5.7% commute by public transport, both the highest of the fourteen. 60.6% drive alone, which is the second lowest of the set after the Historic District's 50.2%. The mean commute is 19.1 minutes.

Here is what that means when a tire goes down. In most of this metro a flat is a household with two cars using the other one for a few days. In 31415 it is more often the only car, and the day it stops is the day somebody misses a shift. That is why this page is written for same-day.

Old houses, rented, with the car outside

11,082 people live here in 3,988 occupied units. 21.1% of the housing was built in 1939 or earlier — the second highest share of the fourteen, behind only the Historic District's 50.5%, and above the 16.2% citywide figure. The median unit falls in the 1950s band. 70.7% of units are one-unit detached and 15.2% sit in two-to-four-unit buildings.

But only 43.9% are owner-occupied. That combination — detached houses, mostly rented — is the operational detail a fitter actually needs, and it is the reason we ask a specific question at booking. There is usually somewhere to put the car. It is not always ground you control. If the space is a shared yard, a landlord's strip or a neighbour's frontage, tell us, and clear it with whoever controls it before the slot. Our requirement is unchanged: level, paved, legal ground with room to work at one corner of the car, and the industry version of the same test is Tire Rack's "flat, paved surface with 6 feet of clearance around your vehicle" with "10 feet of vertical clearance". What we cannot do is work in open traffic.

The area takes in the western edge of Cuyler/Brownville, Cloverdale and Woodville, all names from the City's own 106-neighbourhood boundary layer rather than anything we made up. And a note on the label: 31408, north-west of here, is also called West Savannah. That page is the industrial-corridor one; this is the residential one.

Nobody in this metro publishes a price for coming to you

We went looking specifically for a published mobile flat-repair price in the Savannah area on 2026-09-20 and found none. Item by item, here is what each source actually said.

The one mobile operator in Tire Rack's seventeen-installer directory for ZIP 31401, GoMobile Tires, lists flat repair as a service and publishes no price for it: "A flat doesn't mean a tow. We assess on-location — plug, patch, or replace." Tee's Mobile Tire Service describes the repair in detail — "we pull the tire, find the puncture, and repair it properly wherever you are parked" — and prices nothing anywhere on its site. Discount Tire says in terms "We don't offer mobile tire repair at this time". Tire Rack's own vans do not appear in the ZIP 31401 directory at all. Zohr, the one national mobile operator with a complete published rate card, lists three metros across Kansas, Missouri and Texas and none in Georgia. Every other local operator we could open either has no website in the listings or has one with no prices on it.

We are not claiming that makes us cheapest. We are claiming you can see our number before you call, which in this metro is unusual enough to be worth saying.

The law has no sympathy for a car you cannot afford to park

O.C.G.A. 40-8-7(b) makes it a misdemeanour to drive a vehicle "in such unsafe condition as to endanger any person", and Georgia's courts have treated the equipment offences as strict liability — the state proves the condition, not the intent. Under 40-8-7(d) an officer may inspect a vehicle suspected of the violation "without the necessity of obtaining a warrant". The tread floor being measured is 2/32 inch in all major grooves.

There is no annual inspection in Georgia that would have flagged it in advance, and no emissions test in Chatham County either. The system here has no early warning and no grace period — only a stop. That is a hard shape for a one-car household, and it is the reason a $145 repair on the right day is the cheap version of this problem.

Repair is subject to inspection on site; if it is not repairable we tell you at the car and you are not charged for the repair.
