Nissan Rogue tires

The Rogue changed generation in 2021, and both the tire sizes and the placard pressures changed with it. The older car runs the same pressure front and rear. The newer one does not. And the label that tells you which is which is on the B-pillar, not the door jamb where most guides send you.

The sizes Nissan fitted

T32, 2019 and 2020:

• 225/65R17 102H on S, SV and SV Hybrid
• 225/60R18 100H on the 18 inch SV build and SL Hybrid
• 225/55R19 99H on SL

T33, 2021 to 2025:

• 235/65R17 104H on S
• 235/60R18 103H on SV and Midnight Edition
• 235/55R19 101V on SL and Platinum

Every size grew by 10 mm in section width at the generation change. A 2020 tire will not do as a replacement on a 2021 car even though the trim names and the wheel diameters line up. Check the model year, then the sidewall. See finding your tire size.

One more thing to check on an older car: the 2019 fitment list includes a run-flat option on S and SV trims that the owner's manual does not mention. Where the Rogue hides its tire label

On the driver's side centre pillar, between the front and rear doors. The 2020 manual is explicit about it and the 2023 manual repeats it. The B-pillar is the upright post you see when the driver's door is open and you look at the body rather than the door edge.

The pressures

They differ by generation, and on the newer car they differ front to rear:

• The 2019 and 2020 car runs the same figure on all four corners across all three tire sizes.
• The 2021 and later car does not. The 17 inch S sits three psi above the 18 and 19 inch cars on the front axle, and every T33 build runs the rear lower than the front.
• The most common figure on the current car is 33 front and 30 rear, which covers the high-volume 18 and 19 inch builds but is wrong by three psi on both axles for the 17 inch S.

That last line is the whole argument for reading the label. Cold means the car has been standing at least three hours or driven under a mile. See our tire pressure placard guide.

Replacing fewer than four

Nissan publishes a real rule for all-wheel-drive Rogues, though not a number. It asks for tires of the same size, brand, construction and tread pattern on all four wheels, because anything else creates a circumference difference between the front and rear axles. Nissan's stated consequences are excessive tire wear, damage to the transmission, transfer case and differential gears, and a Vehicle Dynamic Control system that may malfunction. It also says only spare tires specified for that AWD model should be used.

There is no numeric tread-depth or circumference tolerance published, so there is nothing to measure against. On an all-wheel-drive Rogue the honest answer is four tires, or a conversation. What changes on a mobile Rogue fitting

• Wheel nut torque is 83 ft-lb on both generations. Nissan asks for the nuts to be re-tightened after 600 miles following a tire change or a flat.
• Direct TPMS, with pressure sensors in the wheels. The sensors are easily damaged by careless handling and a replacement sensor may need its ID registered.
• The spare has no sensor. The low pressure light flashes for about a minute and then stays on the whole time the spare is fitted.
• The spare is a temporary tire at 60 psi, T155/80D17 on two-wheel-drive cars and T165/90D17 on all-wheel-drive ones, on a 17x4T wheel.
• Road wheels on the T33 are 17x7.5J, 18x7.5J and 19x7.5J, all at 40 mm offset. The T32 uses different offsets, which matters if wheels get mixed between cars.
• Nissan asks for rotation every 7,500 miles and says not to include the spare in it.

Questions people ask

• Where is the tire pressure sticker on a Rogue? The driver's side centre pillar, between the front and rear doors. Not the door edge.
• Can I reuse my 2020 Rogue tires on a 2021? No. The sizes changed at the generation break, from the 225 series to the 235 series.
• Do the front and rear take the same pressure? On a 2019 or 2020 car, yes. From 2021, no. Setting all four to one figure is the common mistake here.
• Why does the warning light stay on with the spare fitted? The compact spare has no TPMS sensor, so the system cannot read it.
• Can I replace two tires on an AWD Rogue? Nissan wants all four matched in size, brand, construction and tread pattern. Ask us before buying two, and if two are fitted they go on the rear.
• Is my 2019 on run-flats? It might be. The OE list includes a run-flat option the manual does not mention, so we check the sidewall before quoting.
